Take me to SCFAI

Preparation

Review this information in preparation for your Launch visit.

How to Prepare

Have both parents/guardians at the visit
It is important to review dosing information with the responsible parties in charge of administering TIP at home as well as supporting members of the family or household. This visit helps with program comprehension and ensures that all your questions are answered.

Bring safe foods
Your child may have texture, flavor, or food preferences. Keep this in mind as you prepare for your child’s first food challenge. We encourage you to bring safe foods that you know your children like to mix or combine with the challenge foods to make them more palatable. In our clinic, applesauce and Enjoy Life chocolate are the most commonly requested mixing foods.

Wear comfortable shoes and clothes
We want to be sure that each of our patients’ bodies will be safe with every food under all circumstances. In order to stress the body all food challenges include 5 minutes of exercise. To make exercise safe and easy at the appointments, please come prepared with activewear and sneakers.

Make a list of questions
Take time to make a list of your questions. It never fails that when the time comes, there will be something you will forget to ask. Gathering your thoughts and questions on a list has been helpful for many families.

Bring your Anaphylaxis Scenario kit
Please bring your scenario kit to your appointments. Remember that your child’s anaphylaxis scenario kit should be with you at all times. Visits at our clinic are no exception. You should have already filled these prescriptions after your On-Boarding visit. If you have not, please do so prior to your Launch visit. These kits should be brought to all of your future visits at FAI.
